Happening at 6 p.m. Monday at the Provo Library Ballroom, the evening will offer a chance for conversations with city leaders, information booths and live entertainment.

“Tu Voz Importa was created to help the City Council better engage with this important part of the community by providing a welcoming space for residents to participate in conversations about issues affecting Provo,” the city said in a news release. 

Roughly 19% of Provo residents identify as Latino and roughly 18% of households speak Spanish at home, according to the city. 

At 6:30 p.m., Provo City Councilmember Gary Garrett will offer welcome remarks, Mayor Marsha Judkins will offer an introduction and city leaders and state Rep. Norm Thurston will participate in a community question-and-answer session.

Cultural performances will also take place and there will be local food vendors and community resource booths.

“Every resident deserves to know their voice matters at City Hall,” Councilmember Gary Garrett said in the news release. “Tu Voz Importa is an opportunity for us to listen, answer questions and strengthen our relationship with Provo’s Spanish-speaking community.”

Provo said the event is made possible through a partnership with Preservando El Arte and Elevate Utah/Centro Hispano.
