Titled Contemporary Portraiture, the exhibit will feature works from more than 20 artists that depict another human being in paint, film or clay. These works are intended to reveal the complex, layered nature of identity, the Springville Museum of Art said.

“Every artistic choice, from medium to style to setting, reveals something about the relationship between artist and sitter, and between the portrait and its intended audience,” the museum said.

Artists to be featured in the exhibit include Pamela Beach, Blair Buswell, Casey Childs, Caitlin Connolly, John Darley, Nicole Hill Gerulat, Justin Hackworth, Michael Hall, Ben Hammond, Jeff Hein, Jared Jakins, Randall Lake, Jiyoun Lee-Lodge, Howard Lyon, Santiago Michalek, Colby Sanford, Mary Sauer, Fazilat Soukhakian, Marlena Wild and Kwani Winder, according to the museum.

The exhibit will open Aug. 27, run through July 23, 2027.
