Man killed in auto-pedestrian accident involving UHP trooper in Eagle Mountain

A Utah Highway Patrol vehicle is pictured in an undated photo.A man was killed in an auto-pedestrian crash involving a Utah Highway Patrol trooper Wednesday night in Eagle Mountain, according to authorities.
The Utah County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Thursday morning that deputies and investigators responded to a crash involving a vehicle and pedestrian near the Lake Mountain Road and Pole Canyon Boulevard intersection.
The Utah Highway Patrol trooper, who was on-duty in a non-emergency capacity, reportedly struck a man who was walking with a woman in the area.
“The adult male, unfortunately, did succumb on scene to injuries sustained during the crash,” the news release said. “The female pedestrian nor the trooper were injured during the incident.”
The UCSO said the Utah County OICI Protocol Team is investigating the incident, and that the Utah Highway Patrol is cooperating with the OICI team and the active and on-going investigation.
The Utah Department of Public Safety also confirmed that one of their troopers was involved in the crash.
“We are fully cooperating with local authorities to ensure a thorough investigation of the crash,” DPS said in a statement.
