The Timpanogos School Board holds its first meeting Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2025, at Orem High School.

The name of the new school district representing Lindon, Orem, Pleasant Grove and Vineyard will likely reference the mountain that looms above the cities.

The south district of the Alpine School District split, temporarily called the Timpanogos School District, released four names in a final public survey to determine a permanent name. The survey will be open through 4 p.m. Friday.

The proposed names are:

    • Mt. Timp School District
    • Timp School District
    • Timp Summit School District
    • Timp Valley School District.

The four names were a result of an initial naming survey that the district said more than 4,500 people participated in. It contained an open response section and gave people four suggestions: Geneva, Sundance, Orchard and a Timpanogos variation.

The Timpanogos variation was overwhelmingly the favorite choice, with 1,586 votes, while Geneva got 154 votes, Sundance had 64 votes and Orchard had 41 votes.

The district said the naming committee will work with the school board to choose a name that reflects the community input and “emphasizes unity” across the district.

Starting at $4.32/week.
