A Springville man was killed by an avalanche while snowmobiling in Wyoming Sunday, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday.

Nicholas Bringhurst, 31, was caught in an avalanche near Labarage Creek in Lincoln County around 2:15 p.m. Sunday, according to a sheriff’s news release. He was unburied by a friend who initiated CPR but was unable to resuscitate him.

The sheriff’s office reportedly received a Garmin InReach notification of an injured snowmobiler, and Air Idaho, and Star Valley Search and Rescue were activated and responded to the scene.

The search and rescue team found Bringhurst’s body, and Lincoln County Coroner Dain Schwab responded, met with SVSAR units, and took Bringhurst’s body, according to the sheriff’s office.

“The Coroner’s Office will determine the cause of death,” the news release said. “The Sheriff’s Office expresses our deepest sympathies to the Bringhurst family.”
