Police release identity of Eagle Mountain man killed in accident involving UHP trooper

Police released the identity of the man who was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident involving a Utah Highway Patrol trooper last Tuesday as Jack Wilcoxon, 34, of Eagle Mountain.

According to the Utah County Sheriff’s Office, Wilcoxon was walking with a women in the area of Lake Mountain Road and Pole Canyon Boulevard in Eagle Mountain when he was struck by a UHP trooper who was on-duty in a non-emergency capacity.

The Utah Highway Patrol confirmed Wednesday morning that the officer involved in the incident has been placed on administrative leave.

The Utah County OICI Protocol Team is investigating the incident. The Utah County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Tuesday that the investigation is still on going, and that upon its completion, it will be handed over to the Utah County Attorney’s Office.

“At that point, it will be up to the Utah County Attorney’s Office to release their finding,” the statement said.
