A Utah County Sheriff's Office truck was damanged after reportedly stopping a wrong-way driver near Provo.

Two deputies with the Utah County Sheriff’s Office stopped a wrong-way driver on Interstate 15 by forcing a collision around 4 a.m. Saturday morning near Provo.

According to a sheriff’s office news release, the deputies responded to an agency assist for the reported wrong-way driver going northbound in a southbound lane near the University Parkway exit in Orem.

The deputies located the driver near mile marker 269, close to the University Avenue exit in Provo, and one deputy struck the vehicle on the driver’s side, forcing it to spin out into the other deputy’s vehicle, which then prevented the car from driving away, the sheriff’s office said.

The deputies and the wrong-way driver were ok, and all three vehicles were damaged, the release added.

An accident report was taken by the Utah Highway Patrol, which investigated the driver for driving under the influence.

Starting at $4.32/week.
