The Timpanogos School Board has selected an individual to lead the district into a new era of education for Lindon, Orem, Pleasant Grove and Vineyard.

The board unanimously appointed Alpine School District Director of Administrative Development Joseph N. Jensen as superintendent Wednesday night.

“We received many applications for this position and engaged in a thorough process of reviewing and interviewing candidates,” board President Jen Lyman said in a statement. “We appreciate the community support and involvement throughout this process and the valuable insights we gained from interviewing several outstanding candidates. We look forward to working with Dr. Jensen as we move our shared vision forward — providing high levels of genuine learning for each student within an environment of exceptional care, curiosity and community.”

Jensen has worked within the area of the new district for much of his career. Prior to his administrative role in the Alpine School District, he served as principal of Timpanogos High School and principal of Orem Junior High.

“I love the people in these communities. I lived in Pleasant Grove for 10 years and spent my entire administrative career serving students, teachers and families in Orem, Vineyard and Lindon,” Jensen said. “I have countless memories of exceptional teachers, coaches and support staff who work tirelessly to develop young people — in classrooms, extracurricular activities and programs. Schools play a vital role in cultivating students’ heads, hands and hearts in ways that strengthen both individuals and our community.”

A letter to parents said Jensen will visit all 29 schools during his first 100 days in the district to connect with and learn from staff, parents and administrators.

“Launching a new district requires tremendous commitment, and I deeply appreciate the sacrifices made by these board members and their families,” he said. “I look forward to working alongside them to create a district where students, families and educators can truly thrive.”

The Alpine School District will break off into three separate districts on July 1, 2027, after residents in the north and west Utah County voted for Proposition 11 and Proposition 14, respectively, to create new districts in 2024. A third district, the Timpanogos School District, was then created by default.

All three new districts have now hired superintendents, with each individual coming from the Alpine School District. As previously reported, the Lake Mountain School District appointed Alpine Associate Superintendent Vicki Carter to the role, and Aspen Peaks selected Alpine Associate Superintendent Joel Perkins.

Starting at $4.32/week.
