Between 8:30 p.m. Friday and 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning, east and westbound lanes of Provo Canyon Road at Canyon View Park will be stopped by Provo and Orem police and the Utah County Sheriff’s Office.
St. Patrick’s Day is one of the biggest drinking nights of the year, according to Jason Mettmann of Utah Highway Safety. He said in a Thursday news release that coordinated law enforcement blitzes will occur beginning Friday through St. Patrick’s Day on Tuesday, with 36 police agencies working 155 additional DUI overtime enforcement shifts.
The shifts are funded by federal grants through the Utah Highway Safety Office.
“Alcohol, prescription drugs, marijuana, or any combination of these substances affects your judgment and safe perceptions on the road. Law enforcement has zero tolerance for impaired driving,” Utah Highway Patrol Major Jason Ricks said in a news release.
In 2025, Utah County amassed 2,343 DUI arrests and 154 people were killed due to impaired driving statewide, according to Provo police data.
