Wildfire breaks out north of Birdseye in southern Utah County

A wildfire ignited Thursday afternoon in rural southern Utah County north of Birdseye, near U.S. 89.

The Birdseye Fire was mapped at 66 acres Thursday before its progress was stopped, according to Utah Fire Info.

No structures were lost in the fire.

“Thanks to the quick work of firefights, full containment is expected,” Utah Fire Info said.

Initially named the Anderson Point Fire, it had burned an estimated 15 acres as of 3:30 p.m. Thursday and structures were initially reported to be threatened.
