Intermountain Health announced plans last week to break ground on a “significant expansion” of its Spanish Fork Hospital.

The project will happen on the hospital’s north side and increase the services offered at the campus, according to an Intermountain Health social media post Friday.

The emergency department will grow from 12 to 20 beds, the surgical services department will receive two new operating rooms, and the imaging department will receive a new CT scanner and room.

“Our Imaging and Emergency Departments regularly operate at over 100% of the capacity they were designed for,” Intermountain said. “Our surgeries are increasing in line with population growth — which is projected to keep growing. It will be over a year’s worth of construction, but it will help us better handle existing demand and accommodate future needs.”

The expansion comes at a time of growing need for the hospital, which opened to patients in 2021.

Intermountain spokesman Lincoln Hubbard told the Springville City Council in Nov. 2025 that the hospital emergency department was running at 45% above capacity.

“We’ll be almost doubling the size of our emergency department,” Hubbard said.

Starting at $4.32/week.
