Graf said he will set a trial date.
In preparation for the hearing, state prosecutors and the defense each submitted memorandum’s Wednesday to propose when the trial should take place.
Robinson proposed a six- to seven-month trial in 2029; the state suggested an 85-day trial beginning Jan. 31, 2028.
County prosecutors said the state could be ready to start trial on Oct. 4, 2027, but suggested delaying the start until after the holiday season to avoid placing hardship on the jurors.
Robinson’s defense said 2027 and 2028 would be spent filing and litigating various pretrial motions. In addition, multiple members of the defense team have scheduled trials in 2027, according to Robinson’s memorandum.
Graf found probable cause on Sept. 1 that Robinson shot and killed Charlie Kirk on Sept. 10, 2025, at Utah Valley University in Orem and ordered Robinson to stand trial for seven counts, including aggravated murder.
