One of our favorite traditions at Western Heating & Air is to share the “Gift of Heat” with a deserving family in need. We look for families and customers who truly do need a new furnace, but because of means beyond their control, they are not able to replace the furnace.
Our wonderful partner, FM100.3, helped us promote the Gift of Heat and Heart program on their radio station. We accepted nominations from the community for several weeks. We had dozens of nominations pour through, and read many heartbreaking stories. It’s very difficult to choose just one family to help. We are hoping for additional sponsors in years to come so that we can award more than one furnace.
This year’s winner was nominated by Dora Gutierrez. She shared that Aura was a single mother who was battling with Stage 4 breast cancer. Because of her chemotherapy treatments she has had to miss quite a bit of work, and was not able to afford a new furnace. In
fact, we learned that Aura spent some of her recovery time at home, watching Youtube videos to learn how to fix her furnace. She was able to fix her furnace a couple of times, but the heat just wouldn’t stay on.
Because of Dora’s thoughtfulness, we were able to surprise Aura, of West Valley, on December 14th, with a new, high efficient furnace and other thoughtful gifts for her family. Our team of professionals installed a wonderful furnace that will not only warm her home, but save her money on her energy bills. She will be able to focus on healing and caring for her two daughters, so they can enjoy the holidays and stay warm through her treatments.

When we had the privilege to met Aura, we learned that she is also spreading the gift of heat by collecting coats, scarves and gloves for the latino community. Her generosity and thoughtfulness is also warming hearts. As she expressed her tearful, deep gratitude to us, she commented that she will be paying this forward. Her generosity and kindness is contagious, and we know that she already has. She was the perfect winner for the Gift of Heat and Heart!
