Utah is a state for growth, and Vineyard has become a key attractant. Fall is an invigorating time! The change of season is turning trees into bright vibrant colors, and new growth is shaping the landscape.

A newly completed FrontRunner station in Vineyard has seen great success in bringing change and opportunity in the last two months that it has been operating. As Utah Transit Authority (UTA) Trustee Jeff Acerson mentioned, the station’s parking lot is full and people are even parking on the street. It is a wonderful sight to see it being so well used!

Local residents and visitors are loving the connectivity.

UTA has reported an increase in ridership generated from this new site. Vineyard’s new FrontRunner leads to a quick connection to expressways through Vineyard that provide a swift pass up to Sundance, and eventual faster connections to airports with both international and regional destinations. The station is located in the heart of the community’s burgeoning city center, bringing students to Utah Valley University and local talent into Utah’s workforce.

New development phases of growth are bringing people into Vineyard’s downtown. New buildings are advancing another phase of the Vineyard’s master planned regional development. Incoming promenades that will carry visitors and residents from the FrontRunner station to Utah Lake, a gem in Utah Valley.

Recently, a master planned Lakeshore Beach front property has been driving people to the area! Sunset Beach Park offers residents and visitors a place to come experience a sandy beach park with an iconic and historically based Geneva Resort park slide.

The area provides a place to come and watch a live show in its cozy outdoor amphitheater, and will bring even more community engagement with a small community garden, opening in the spring of 2023. Vineyard Beach, north of Sunset Beach Park, currently invites paragliders, kayakers, skimboarders, fishers and other recreators every day to Utah Lake’s shoreline. Just east of Vineyard Beach, construction on a new Boardwalk Park will begin in spring of 2023, a master planned design forged by the design firm FFKR.

This Boardwalk park will be Vineyard’s second lakefront adjacent park and will be designed to hold smaller-scale events. It will be a connecting point, creating an ideal spot for recreation and connection to the shoreline and that city center and will have areas for picnicking and places to enjoy beautiful views of Utah Lake.

Further inland, Top Golf is under construction and is nearing completion. The Yard is quickly becoming a community center for locals and tourists alike. Steve Hutchings, X Development Director of Real Estate, mentioned that he and Eric Towner along with their team and investment partners are in the business of building high-growth communities in ways that cultivate connection, premier experiences and responsible growth.

“It’s been an honor working with Mayor Fullmer, the City and the community on this project! Eric Towner and I, along with the entire X Development team, are thrilled to be bringing top notch experiences like Topgolf to Vineyard. We are excited to see Topgolf completed very soon,” Hutchings said.

The new Vineyard FrontRunner station was unveiled Friday, Aug. 12, 2022.

Top Golf’s Vineyard location will also feature a high-end mini-golf course. Additional casual food eateries and businesses will be coming to the “Yard,” enhancing the experience of its patrons.

A new Central Corridor Master Plan is being proposed to conserve open space, and bring additional amenities into the area. We will hold several public engagement events to receive feedback on our newly released Central Corridor Master Plan. At each of the events, members of Vineyard City Council and City Staff will be available to answer questions about the plan that adds amenities to Vineyard Grove Park, Gammon Park and other open spaces through the central corridor of the City. Feedback from residents will be collected through a survey that opened last Monday and runs through Oct. 21. You can find the renderings and the survey at this link: https://vineyardutah.org/DocumentCenter/View/2910/Master-Corridor-Plan.

Events are scheduled (weather permitting) on Tuesday, Oct. 11, from 5-7 p.m. at Gammon Park and Thursday, Oct. 20, from 5-8 p.m. in the Vineyard City Council Chambers. Every resident is encouraged to review the plans and then fill out our survey. It’s an incredible opportunity to comment on upgraded amenities, enhanced open spaces and conservation locations throughout the City. As individuals and families continue to move into Vineyard, their views and values will help shape the future of these areas.

The Vineyard Children’s Library reopened in a bigger and brighter space at the City Offices. The hours are the same as our city office hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Fridays. The library is free to use and is fully run by volunteers. Storytime has become an incredible gathering occasion, and a way to encourage parents and children to sign up for library cards and check out books.

The Hutchins Museum Institute recently partnered with the library by putting on an animal show and butterfly release for the community to celebrate the move. Over 120 attendees circled around baskets of butterflies that were released into the migration path for this changing season. Thank you to the Hutchins Museum Team for facilitating this opportunity. Vineyard social media channels will continue to send out information on future library storytimes and programming as they continue throughout the year.

Boo-a-palooza is one of Vineyard’s favorite fall events. On Tuesday, Oct. 18 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Vineyard Grove Park, residents and visitors will come in costume for a trick-or-treating event at the park! Last year, the Vineyard Community Garden brought produce to hand out to families as they came through the trick-or-treating lines.

Get Healthy Utah and our partners at Intermountain’s Orem Community Hospital have supported the community garden, and we were recently granted funds to expand the program again. A locally-made Vineyard produce sharing stand provided a space for gardeners to share their bounty, and the nearby local farmer donated their leftover crops! The Vineyard Community Garden just finished a very successful second season, with 22 boxes being cared for and harvested. An additional 20 garden boxes, near Sunset Beach Park, will open this next spring facilitating more connection in the community. It’s been an exciting community amenity not only centered around resilience and health, but also connection and community.

Tourists, professionals, a talented workforce, higher education students and recreators are not the only people finding their way to Vineyard. Recently, planners and designers from across the state toured Vineyard on bikes and electric scooters to experience the connectivity, key locations and master planned areas designed to be human scale with complete streets within the Regional Development.

The variety of housing types and master planned environments are driving opportunities for people to get their start, create and envision their lives, raise families and retire all while enjoying the quality of life brought by the incredible location and design of the area.

As Utah continues to grow, opportunities in cities like Vineyard continue to propel forward and serve the people of Utah and the region. Fall invites locals and visitors to explore Utah Valley, and experience events and places that make Utah such an interesting, fun and fulfilling place to live. Come see the change, enjoy the events, and experience Vineyard as it continues to take shape.
