Understanding Sexism in Utah forum — The Utah Women & Leadership Project invites the public for its second Fall Women’s Leadership Forum on Understanding Sexism in Utah and how to reduce the frequency of sexism in the state from noon to 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10. AMERICAN FORK

Fall art show — The Fall Art Gallery will conclude on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at TAF Creative Arts Center, 53 W. Main. Attendees can immerse themselves in a stunning collection of artworks by local artists.

Free Billboard Hits concert — The Timpanogos Singers and Youth Choirs will perform a free concert of billboard hits at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, at the American Fork Library.

“The Addams Family” musical — Timpanogos Community Theater will be performing “The Addams Family,” a new musical comedy from Oct. 6 to Oct. 21, at the Valentine Theater. Tickets are $15, with a $10 rate for students and seniors. There will be an American Sign Language night on Friday, Oct. 13. There will also be trick-or-treating after the shows on Oct. 9 and Oct. 16. An Addams Family Costume Contest is also planned for Oct. 13. American Fork Symphony’s Halloween Concert — The American Fork Symphony will perform selection from Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition,” Saint-Saën’s “Danse Macabre” and other recognizable favorites during its Halloween concert at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 9, at the American Fork Junior High School auditorium. Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and $5 for youth ages 6 to 18. There is also a family pass available for up to four people for $25. Events at the American Fork Library — Here are some upcoming events at the American Fork Library: Oct. 10: Beginner Yoga at 7:30 p.m. Please bring your own mat. Oct. 11: Art After School at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 12: An Evening at Hogwarts at 5 p.m. Tweens and teens are invited to the Great Hall for Harry Potter crafts and classes. Oct. 13: Flashback Friday After Hours Movie Night for families at 7 p.m. Join the library for a double feature of Halloween antics with Abbott and Costello as they meet Frankenstein and the Mummy. Popcorn provided. Please enter through east doors. Oct. 16: Little Art Explorers for ages 3 to 5 at 1 p.m. Children can explore, discover and create with different art materials and techniques in this open-ended art class. Dress for a mess. Oct. 16: Family Movie Night at 6 p.m. The library will celebrate the 30th anniversary of “Hocus Pocus.” Activities will start at 6 p.m. with a screening of the film at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 16: Gardening Series: Hardscapes in Landscapes taught by master gardeners of the American Fork Beautification Committee at 7 p.m. Oct. 19: Tween Club at 4 p.m. Learn about the history and science of mummification by making an apple mummy. Oct. 19: Paranormal Investigation at the Library for ages 16 and up at 7 p.m. Advanced Paranormal Services will show how paranormal investigations are conducted and then you can tag along as the professional investigate parts of the library and park. Storytime — The American Fork Library is offering storytimes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Toddler Tales will be at 10 a.m., followed by Preschool Pals at 11 a.m. Preschool Pals will also be offered as a Zoom Storytime at 10 a.m. Wednesdays. Register at https://aflibrary.eventbrite.com.

CEDAR HILLS

Winterizing pressurized irrigation — The city of Cedar Hills will be turning off pressurized irrigation on Oct. 13 and there will be no water until spring. The city asks residents to leave their individual, pressurized irrigation shut-off valve in the open position to allow for proper drainage of the system.

Jr. Jazz registration — Children in second to ninth grades can sign up through Nov. 15, or until full, for this recreation league. The season will run from January to early March with all teams playing seven games each. Parents are also encouraged to sign up to coach. Ski or Snowboard Club — Children 10 and older are invited to join the Cedar Hills Ski or Snowboard Club at Brighton Ski Resort. Classes are based on skill level and the number of participants. All levels are welcome. Four classes are included from Feb. 10 to March 10. Each Saturday includes transportation, lessons and a night lift pass. Food Truck Rally — Food trucks will be on hand every Wednesday at Harvey Park through the summer.

Vinyasa Yoga (mixed level) — Join Kristen Rutter at 8:15 a.m. every Wednesday at the Cedar Hills Recreation Center for a dynamic practice that unites body, mind and breath. Bring your own mat, strap and block (a limited number is available to borrow).

HIGH Fitness classes — This weekly class takes aerobics to the next level by combining modern fitness techniques, such as HIIT, plyometics, and intervals of strength and cardio with music. Classes are currently at 7 a.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays at the Cedar Hills Recreation Center. The drop-in rate is $3.50 and punch cards can be purchased at a discount. LINDON

Senior bus — The Lindon Senior Center has a bus and is able to offer rides to and from the center on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This is available for Lindon resident seniors. Pick-ups are between 10 and 11 a.m. Drop-offs are between 1 and 2 p.m. Reservations must be made at least one day in advance. Contact the Senior Center front desk at (801) 769-8625.

OREM

Join the Orem Chorale — Members of the community are invited to join the Orem Chorale for the 2023-24 season. The group will meet weekly from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Thursdays  n the Orem High School choir room September through May, except for major holidays and school breaks. The chorale is a non-audition community choir whose focus is to sing beautiful, uplifting music while honing musicianship and serve the community. PAYSON

Volunteer at the library — Friends of the Payson Library notes that residents can volunteer for an hour or less each month to help the library meet the needs of children and patrons. Volunteers are asked to offer ideas and support the group’s yearly book sale. PROVO

Historical society presentation on Utah Parks Co. — The Utah Valley Historical Society will host a presentation on “Singaway: Working and Playing for the Utah Parks Company, 1923 to 1972” at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10, in Room 201 at the Provo City Library. Speakers Janet Seegmiller and Ryan D. Paul led a 20-year oral history project with some 200 employees of the company that provided guest services in Utah’s national parks.

Domestic violence awareness event and candlelight walk — The Refuge Utah invites the public to commemorate Domestic Violence Awareness Month with a community walk from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12. The event will begin at the Historic Utah County Courthouse and end at Pioneer Park. During the event, there will be several guest speakers, a remembrance of domestic violence survivors and a candlelight walk from the courthouse to the park. SARATOGA SPRINGS

Community Orchestra — The Saratoga Springs Community Orchestra holds practices on the first and third Thursdays of each month from 7 to 9 p.m. at the city offices, 1307 N. Commerce Drive. The orchestra will be preparing for Saratoga Splash Days and the December holiday concerts.

UTAH COUNTY

Mental health support groups and classes — NAMI Utah County offers free in-person and online support groups and classes for adults and teens living with mental health conditions and for family members of loved ones living with mental health conditions. Volunteers to help Kids On The Move — Each Friday and Saturday, Kids On The Move offers Respite Care, providing a free break to parents with special needs children. Families drop their children off at locations in Orem, Lehi and Springville where they are paired one-on-one with a volunteer to play for the evening. A nurse or behavior technician is also present to help oversee. The group is seeking 10 volunteers 16 years and older from 5:45 to 9:30 p.m. every Friday and Saturday to help make this happen. Foster grandparents sought — Utah County is seeking senior volunteers to serve as foster grandparents. Volunteers must be limited-income individuals at least 55 years old and able to serve 15 or more hours per week. Volunteers serve as mentors, tutors and caregivers for children and youth at schools, hospitals, youth centers and similar organizations. Volunteers receive a non-taxable stipend, paid personal leave, transportation reimbursement, ongoing training and more. Utah County Home Visit Programs in need of donations — Utah County Health Department home visit programs are running low on donated resources such as baby blankets and diapers. The health department is asking Utah County community members to consider donating items or organizing service projects to assist in providing donations. The items most needed are new receiving blankets or small quilts and diapers. Other welcomed items include: infant “onesies,” knit hats and infant-appropriate board books. Items should be in new condition. Donations may be dropped off Monday to Friday (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) at the following health department locations: Provo — 151 S. University Ave., Suite 1610, American Fork — 599 S. 500 East. Questions about the home visit programs should be directed to Bonnie Hardy at (801) 851-7026.
