Women in Leadership Executive Speaker Series upcoming events — The Utah Women & Leadership Project will present its Women in Leadership Executive Speaker Series through January. The events are free, but participants are asked to register in advance. Feb. 12: Susan Madsen will moderate a discussion on inclusion and belonging from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with Sui LAng Panoke, senior vice president of diversity, equity and inclusion at Zions Bank, and Nikkie Walker, director of community engagement and DEI for Domo. Events at the American Fork Library — Here are some upcoming events at the American Fork Library: Feb. 10: Lunar New Year Take and Make Celebrate the Year of the Dragon with a fortune cookie craft. Pick up the supply kit at the upstairs information desk. Feb. 12: Great Backyard Bird Count Family Night at 7 p.m. Join in on the count this year and become a citizen scientist. Learn about the count and make a bird feeder to take home. Bird watchers of all ages are invited to participate. Feb. 14: Art After School for teens at 4:30 p.m. Join the library in making mosaic art with all supplies provided. Enthusiasts of all skill levels welcome. Feb. 15: Tween Club at 4 p.m. This month features a Squishmallow Paint Party with games, painting and treats. Register online. Feb. 16: A Taste for Mystery – Friends of the Library Fundraiser at 7 p.m. Sample cheeses and other tasty bites while you review evidence and solve the crime in this fundraiser. Tickets, with a $15 minimum donation, are available only at the library main desk through Feb. 9.  Feb. 19: Library closed for Presidents’ Day. Feb. 20: Beginning ASL Class for ages 5 to adult at 10 a.m. Presented by Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind. Feb. 24: Creative Dance Class for children ages 3 to 4 at 10 a.m., 5 to 6 at 10:45 a.m. and 7 to 8 at 11:30 a.m. Qualified instructors from Wasatch Contemporary Dance Company will teach these free classes. Children are asked to wear comfortable clothing as formal dance attire is not required. Register online. Feb. 26: Gardening Class for adults at 7 p.m. A class on early season vegetables, including what seeds to start planting. Feb. 29: Adult Writer’s Club at 8 p.m. An in-person meeting to discuss questions from YouTube instruction videos, receive help editing and review works in progress.

Basic drawing techniques class — Children ages 8 to 18 can learn about basic drawing techniques with Jeff Bushman from 4 to 5 p.m. on Thursdays at the TAF Creative Arts Center, 53 W. Main St. Students may start at anytime. The cost is either $10 per class per student or $40 per month, including supplies. CEDAR HILLS

Snapology robotics classes — There is limited availability for upcoming Snapology robotics classes set for Wednesdays from March 6 to April 17. For youth in kindergarten to second grade, Snapology Robotics Favorites offers children the opportunity to explore the world of robotics as they build simple models that teach the fundamentals of robotic design. For students in grades 3 to 6, MegaMachines Robotics lets children create some of their favorite motorized vehicles and machines as they learn about gear ratio, sensors, pulleys, cranks and programming. Spring soccer registration — Registration opens Jan. 15 for spring soccer leagues for boys and girls in kindergarten through second grade. The league will run for seven weeks. Parents are encouraged to coach, if possible. Non-residents can participate at no additional cost. Teal Rose dancers — Beginning and intermediate dance classes will be offered at the Cedar Hills Community Center. Beginning dance for 3 to 6 year olds focusing on the basics of ballet and tumbling with games and fun takes places on Tuesdays through May 14. Ski and Snowboard Club (self drive) — Join the Cedar Hills Ski or Snowboard Club (self drive) at Brighton Ski Resort for four classes beginning Feb. 10 and concluding March 9. Classes for ages 8 and up are based on the skill level and number of participants. The program, for all skill levels from beginning to advanced, includes four, 2-hour group lessons beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the resort and a night lift pass. Vinyasa Yoga (mixed level) — Join Kristen Rutter at 8:15 a.m. every Wednesday at the Cedar Hills Recreation Center for a dynamic practice that unites body, mind and breath. Bring your own mat, strap and block (a limited number is available to borrow).

HIGH Fitness classes — This weekly class takes aerobics to the next level by combining modern fitness techniques, such as HIIT, plyometics, and intervals of strength and cardio with music. Classes are currently at 7 a.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays at the Cedar Hills Recreation Center. The drop-in rate is $3.50 and punch cards can be purchased at a discount. LINDON

Senior bus — The Lindon Senior Center has a bus and is able to offer rides to and from the center on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This is available for Lindon resident seniors. Pick-ups are between 10 and 11 a.m. Drop-offs are between 1 and 2 p.m. Reservations must be made at least one day in advance. Contact the Senior Center front desk at (801) 769-8625.

PAYSON

Volunteer at the library — Friends of the Payson Library notes that residents can volunteer for an hour or less each month to help the library meet the needs of children and patrons. Volunteers are asked to offer ideas and support the group’s yearly book sale. PROVO

“A Utah Lake Story” presentation — Joe Crawford, watershed programs manager at the Central Utah Water Conservancy District, will present a discussion entitled “A Utah Lake Story,” at the Utah Valley Historical Society at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13, in Room 201 at the Provo City Library. Crawford will discuss historical activities at the lake, including planting carp and other fish in the lake in an attempt to improve fisheries and help feed local people, and the practice of cities dumping raw sewage in the lake prior to the construction of wastewater treatment plants by the 1960s.

SARATOGA SPRINGS

Community Orchestra — The Saratoga Springs Community Orchestra holds practices on the first and third Thursdays of each month from 7 to 9 p.m. at the city offices, 1307 N. Commerce Drive. The orchestra will be preparing for Saratoga Splash Days and the December holiday concerts.

UTAH COUNTY

Mental health support groups and classes — NAMI Utah County offers free in-person and online support groups and classes for adults and teens living with mental health conditions and for family members of loved ones living with mental health conditions. Volunteers to help Kids On The Move — Each Friday and Saturday, Kids On The Move offers Respite Care, providing a free break to parents with special needs children. Families drop their children off at locations in Orem, Lehi and Springville where they are paired one-on-one with a volunteer to play for the evening. A nurse or behavior technician is also present to help oversee. The group is seeking 10 volunteers 16 years and older from 5:45 to 9:30 p.m. every Friday and Saturday to help make this happen. Foster grandparents sought — Utah County is seeking senior volunteers to serve as foster grandparents. Volunteers must be limited-income individuals at least 55 years old and able to serve 15 or more hours per week. Volunteers serve as mentors, tutors and caregivers for children and youth at schools, hospitals, youth centers and similar organizations. Volunteers receive a non-taxable stipend, paid personal leave, transportation reimbursement, ongoing training and more. Utah County Home Visit Programs in need of donations — Utah County Health Department home visit programs are running low on donated resources such as baby blankets and diapers. The health department is asking Utah County community members to consider donating items or organizing service projects to assist in providing donations. The items most needed are new receiving blankets or small quilts and diapers. Other welcomed items include: infant “onesies,” knit hats and infant-appropriate board books. Items should be in new condition. Donations may be dropped off Monday to Friday (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) at the following health department locations: Provo — 151 S. University Ave., Suite 1610, American Fork — 599 S. 500 East. Questions about the home visit programs should be directed to Bonnie Hardy at (801) 851-7026.
