AMERICAN FORK

“America, Our Country” youth speeches — The public is invited to hear local youth deliver inspiring speeches at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9 at Valentine Theater. The event is free to attend.

“Disney’s Lion King Kids” auditions — Auditions will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16 at the TAF Arts Center for third and sixth graders interested in being in “Disney’s Lion King Kids.” Rehearsals will be on Wednesday afternoons from January to March, with performances set for March 13 to 15. Events at the American Fork Library — Here are some upcoming events at the American Fork Library: Nov. 2: Fantasy Indie Book Fair for teens and adults from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Meet 12 fantastic fantasy indie authors. Choose a one-hour meet-and-greet session to attend. Register online. Nov. 4: Writer’s Club at 3 p.m. Teens writers of all genres welcome. Monthly challenges given. Nov. 4: Pajama Storytime at 6 p.m. Wear your coziest pajamas and bring a blanket for an evening of fun stories, songs and activities.  Nov. 6: Coding Club for Teens at 4:30 p.m. Learn to build fun projects with block coding on Scratch.com. Register online. Nov. 7: Tween Book Club at 4 p.m. Come to the inaugural meeting of the library’s newest book club. This month, the group will discuss what books they’re reading and getting the club set up. Nov. 7: Family Yoga at 7 p.m. Connect, spend time and have fun with your family. Bring your own mats. Nov. 11: Writer’s Club at 3 p.m. Teens writers of all genres welcome. Monthly challenges given. Nov. 11: Family Night at the Library at 7 p.m. Come to the library for a special presentation of UVU’s Theater for Youth and Education Center’s production of “Mariposa/Butterfly.” Nov. 13: Art After School for teens at 4:30 p.m. This month, the group will be working with pottery. All supplies are provided and enthusiasts of all skill levels are welcome. Nov. 14: My First Book Club for children ages 7 to 9 at 4 p.m. This month read a book based on the theme of animals. Register online. Nov. 16: Tea Rex Party for children at 11 a.m. Enjoy delicious snacks, sip on tasty teas (lemonade) and participate in dino-themed crafts and activities. Register online.

CEDAR HILLS

Jr. Jazz — Registration is now open for the 2025 season. Spots are limited. Programs depend on parent volunteer coaches so parents are encouraged to volunteer during the sign-up process.

Street Hockey — The city of Cedar Hills is partnering with the Utah Hockey Club to bring street hockey to the community. The city is seeking some passionate adults to help launch this program. If interested, please contact nproctor@cedarhills.org.

Ski and Snowboard Club — Registration for the Ski and Snowboard Club for children ages 10 and up begins at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1. There will be two sessions — Session 1 consists of four days beginning Feb. 8 and will cost $330 for bus, lessons and a pass. Session 2 consists of three days starting March 15 and will cost $250 for bus, lessons and pass. Karate — Cedar Hills Community Services offers a fun, multi-level karate training experience for all ages 6 and up, including adults. LINDON

Senior bus — The Lindon Senior Center has a bus and is able to offer rides to and from the center on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This is available for Lindon resident seniors. Pick-ups are between 10 and 11 a.m. Drop-offs are between 1 and 2 p.m. Reservations must be made at least one day in advance. Contact the Senior Center front desk at (801) 769-8625.

OREM

Día de los Muertos celebration — Centro Hispano is hosting the annual Día de los Muertos celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Orem Public Library, 58 N. State St. The event will feature a community altar, traditional bread and over 40 community resource booths. There will also be live performances from local groups including Preservando el Arte, Ballet Folklorico International and a talented mariachi singer. Family can also participate in games, crafts and have a chance to win prizes from Molina Healthcare. PAYSON

Volunteer at the library — Friends of the Payson Library notes that residents can volunteer for an hour or less each month to help the library meet the needs of children and patrons. Volunteers are asked to offer ideas and support the group’s yearly book sale. SARATOGA SPRINGS

Community Orchestra — The Saratoga Springs Community Orchestra holds practices on the first and third Thursdays of each month from 7 to 9 p.m. at the city offices, 1307 N. Commerce Drive. The orchestra will be preparing for Saratoga Splash Days and the December holiday concerts.

UTAH COUNTY

Mental health support groups and classes — NAMI Utah County offers free in-person and online support groups and classes for adults and teens living with mental health conditions and for family members of loved ones living with mental health conditions. Volunteers to help Kids On The Move — Each Friday and Saturday, Kids On The Move offers Respite Care, providing a free break to parents with special needs children. Families drop their children off at locations in Orem, Lehi and Springville where they are paired one-on-one with a volunteer to play for the evening. A nurse or behavior technician is also present to help oversee. The group is seeking 10 volunteers 16 years and older from 5:45 to 9:30 p.m. every Friday and Saturday to help make this happen. Foster grandparents sought — Utah County is seeking senior volunteers to serve as foster grandparents. Volunteers must be limited-income individuals at least 55 years old and able to serve 15 or more hours per week. Volunteers serve as mentors, tutors and caregivers for children and youth at schools, hospitals, youth centers and similar organizations. Volunteers receive a non-taxable stipend, paid personal leave, transportation reimbursement, ongoing training and more. Utah County Home Visit Programs in need of donations — Utah County Health Department home visit programs are running low on donated resources such as baby blankets and diapers. The health department is asking Utah County community members to consider donating items or organizing service projects to assist in providing donations. The items most needed are new receiving blankets or small quilts and diapers. Other welcomed items include: infant “onesies,” knit hats and infant-appropriate board books. Items should be in new condition. Donations may be dropped off Monday to Friday (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) at the following health department locations: Provo — 151 S. University Ave., Suite 1610, American Fork — 599 S. 500 East. Questions about the home visit programs should be directed to Bonnie Hardy at (801) 851-7026.
