Promoting Civility and Dignity in Utah panel discussion — The Utah Women & Leadership Project invites community members, leaders and advocates to join it for an engaging online panel dedicated to fostering civility and dignity across Utah from noon to 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3. Participants include Tami Pyfer, chief of staff and VP of external affairs at UNITE, Becky Edwards, founder and board member of The Governing Group and moderator Susan R. Madsen, professor and founder of the Utah Women & Leadership Project. AMERICAN FORK

Timeless Tidings: A Christmas Concert — Join the American Fork Symphony and special guests Highland Choral Arts for Timeless Tidings at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9, at the American Fork Junior High auditorium. This yearly tradition brings together friends, families and music lovers for a heartwarming evening of festive melodies and joyful celebration. “Joy” choral concert — Celebrate the holiday season as Timpanogos Singers and Youth Choirs lift their voices in “Joy” at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Valentine Theater. Christmas in the Rotunda: Children’s Art Show: From Dec. 2 to 27, immerse yourself with the theme of “Winter Wonderland,” featuring artwork by children and teens ages 3-17 at the American Fork Library. Awards night is set for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at the library.

CEDAR HILLS

Karate — Cedar Hills Community Services offers a fun, multi-level karate training experience for all ages 6 and up, including adults. LINDON

Senior bus — The Lindon Senior Center has a bus and is able to offer rides to and from the center on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This is available for Lindon resident seniors. Pick-ups are between 10 and 11 a.m. Drop-offs are between 1 and 2 p.m. Reservations must be made at least one day in advance. Contact the Senior Center front desk at (801) 769-8625.

PAYSON

Volunteer at the library — Friends of the Payson Library notes that residents can volunteer for an hour or less each month to help the library meet the needs of children and patrons. Volunteers are asked to offer ideas and support the group’s yearly book sale. PROVO

Utah Valley Handbell Ringers — Ring in the holiday season with this annual musical tradition on Monday, Dec. 2, at the Provo City Library. A 6 p.m. concert is for young children and their families. A 7 p.m. concert is for ages 8 and up. Online registration required.

“Wilderness Adventuring” lecture — Brenden W. Rensink, associate director of the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies, will share portions of new research on histories of “wilderness” adventuring and recreation in the American West during a free, public lecture from the Utah Valley Historical Society at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10, in Room 201 at Provo City Library. The discussion will touch on why wilderness recreation has been so alluring and why it continues to draw so many adventurers today.

“A Christmas Carol” one-man show — Join the Provo City Library for the holiday season as Bryan Johnson re-creates the experience of Charles Dickens performing a one-man telling of the classic holiday tale. The event is set for 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9, in the library ballroom.

Pioneer Christmas — Provo Pioneer Village will host its annual Pioneer Christmas from 5 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 13-14 and Dec. 16 at 600 N. 500 West. Come experience the joy of an old-fashioned Christmas with music, storytelling, Father Christmas, refreshments and more. The event is free but suggested donations of $2 per person and $10 per family are welcome. The Daughters of Utah Pioneers Museum will be holding a bazaar from 5 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 13-14.

“A Celtic Christmas” — Local Irish group An Rogaire Dubh and the Thomas Cordner Memorial Pipe Band will perform traditional Celtic folk music at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16, in the Provo City Library ballroom. Earplugs are recommended for young and sensitive ears as bagpipes can be loud indoors. Register online.

SARATOGA SPRINGS

Community Orchestra — The Saratoga Springs Community Orchestra holds practices on the first and third Thursdays of each month from 7 to 9 p.m. at the city offices, 1307 N. Commerce Drive. The orchestra will be preparing for Saratoga Splash Days and the December holiday concerts.

UTAH COUNTY

Warming center volunteers sought — Volunteers 18 and older sought to help at warming centers in Provo and unincorporated Utah County during the evening, late night and early morning. The centers are for homeless individuals seeking warmth and place to stay for the night. The centers will be open nightly through April 30. Mental health support groups and classes — NAMI Utah County offers free in-person and online support groups and classes for adults and teens living with mental health conditions and for family members of loved ones living with mental health conditions. Volunteers to help Kids On The Move — Each Friday and Saturday, Kids On The Move offers Respite Care, providing a free break to parents with special needs children. Families drop their children off at locations in Orem, Lehi and Springville where they are paired one-on-one with a volunteer to play for the evening. A nurse or behavior technician is also present to help oversee. The group is seeking 10 volunteers 16 years and older from 5:45 to 9:30 p.m. every Friday and Saturday to help make this happen. Foster grandparents sought — Utah County is seeking senior volunteers to serve as foster grandparents. Volunteers must be limited-income individuals at least 55 years old and able to serve 15 or more hours per week. Volunteers serve as mentors, tutors and caregivers for children and youth at schools, hospitals, youth centers and similar organizations. Volunteers receive a non-taxable stipend, paid personal leave, transportation reimbursement, ongoing training and more. Utah County Home Visit Programs in need of donations — Utah County Health Department home visit programs are running low on donated resources such as baby blankets and diapers. The health department is asking Utah County community members to consider donating items or organizing service projects to assist in providing donations. The items most needed are new receiving blankets or small quilts and diapers. Other welcomed items include: infant “onesies,” knit hats and infant-appropriate board books. Items should be in new condition. Donations may be dropped off Monday to Friday (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) at the following health department locations: Provo — 151 S.
