In our community, there is a place where stability, compassion and second chances converge. Candlelight Villas, a permanent housing development built and operated by the Food and Care Coalition, offers more than just a roof over one’s head; it provides hope and healing for individuals who have experienced homelessness.
As housing insecurity and costs continue to rise throughout Utah County, Candlelight Villas stands as a response to the growing need for long-term, affordable housing. With 72 thoughtfully designed and fully furnished one-bedroom units, the development provides a safe, dignified place to live for formerly homeless individuals to rebuild their lives. But it’s more than brick and mortar – it’s a place of transformation.
Each resident has access to the broad network of services offered by the Food and Care Coalition. Residents can easily access onsite meals, hygiene services, medical and dental services, and more. This proximity removes barriers and ensures consistent care. These support services are designed to promote self-sufficiency and well-being. The goal is to meet people where they are and help them gain independence.
One resident, who we’ll call John, came to the villas after years of housing instability. With a safe place to live and ongoing support from the coalition team, John was able to reconnect with family and secure employment and now plans on taking classes at a local community college. His story is one of many that reflect the power of supportive housing to break the cycle of homelessness.
Candlelight Villas was intentionally designed to foster community. Shared outdoor spaces, walking paths and a communal gathering area allow residents to connect with one another, reducing isolation and encouraging mutual support. Residents are treated with dignity and respect.

This approach is rooted in the coalition’s belief that housing is not the end of the journey but the beginning. With the right environment and tools, individuals can thrive. Permanent housing is a proven model that addresses not just homelessness but its root causes. It is cost-effective, compassionate and crucial to creating lasting change.
Candlelight Villas reminds us that everyone deserves a place to call home. With compassion and collaboration, we can continue to create spaces where hope can thrive and lives can be restored.
Community support has been vital to the success of the Food and Care Coalition, including the Candlelight Villas. From generous donors to dedicated volunteers and compassionate staff who provide essential daily services, the coalition is a shining example of what can be accomplished when people come together with purpose. Local businesses, civic organizations and individuals all continue to play a vital role in sustaining our programs and helping residents succeed.
The coalition invites the community to learn more about and contribute to the essential role that the coalition plays here. Tours, speaking engagements and volunteer opportunities are available to anyone interested in experiencing the impact firsthand. Supporting these efforts isn’t just charity, it’s an investment in the strength and health of our community.
