Editor’s note: All United Way’s Sub for Santa participants’ names have been changed. To help a family like this one, visit https://subforsanta.org or text or call the Sub for Santa hotline at 801-356-6300. As of today, 94 families are still in need of support.
Suzanne does not receive help from her children’s father, but she is still able to provide the basic necessities for her two children. But, with recent challenges, she is finding it very difficult to purchase gifts for the kids this Christmas.
Recently, her vehicle was having so many problems that she had to buy a new one in order to get to and from work. Because of that, her car payment and insurance amounts increased. Her place of employment has been going through some changes and her work hours suddenly decreased right before the holiday season. “Things always seem to happen at this time of year,” she said. Assistance from volunteers with Sub for Santa would help Suzanne to have less stress and her children to have a happier Christmas.
Seventeen-year-old Helen could really use a new zipper jacket, a hoodie and a coat. She enjoys reading books about horses or magic. She would love to receive gifts of jewelry, an XBox One controller and anything having to do with anime.
Luisa is 15 years old and needs a new sweatshirt, long-sleeve shirt and zipper jacket. She likes to read Choose Your Own Adventure books and books about horses. She would love to receive new rollerblades, knitting, crocheting and other craft supplies and jewelry.
