AMERICAN FORK

Events at the American Fork Library — Here are some upcoming events at the American Fork Library: July 8: Crafternoon for tweens at 1 p.m. Explore new crafts, experiment with cool materials and create awesome projects. Registration required. July 9: Art After School-Summer Edition for teens at 4:30 p.m. Get creative with a hands-on art session. July 10: Adult Writer’s Club-Advanced at 7 p.m. Refine your creative writing, receive help editing and connect with other writers. July 14: Teen Writer’s Club at 3 p.m. Teen writers of all genres welcome. July 15: Rock Rangers for tweens at 1 p.m. Discover the fascinating world of geology and rocks. Register online. July 17: Adult D&D Beginner’s Workshop at 5 p.m. Adults 19 and older are invited to learn the basics of playing Dungeons & Dragons. July 17: Adult Writer’s Club-Beginners at 7 p.m. Learn the basics of creative writing and storytelling. July 21: Teen Writer’s Club at 3 p.m. Teen writers of all genres welcome. July 22: Crafternoon for tweens at 1 p.m. Explore new crafts, experiment with cool materials and create awesome projects. Registration required. July 24: Library closed for Pioneer Day. July 26: Maker’s Table: Art Workshop for people 16 and older at noon. Artist April Terry heads this four-hour workshop offering guided inspiration, access to a variety of materials and time to explore. Tickets require a $5 donation. Register online.

CEDAR HILLS

Fall youth soccer — Registration is open for youth soccer leagues, including tot soccer and K-2. Parents are encouraged to coach, if possible. Non-residents are welcome at no additional cost. For more information or to register, visit https://cedarhillsrec.activityreg.com/selectactivity_t2.wcs.

Fall youth flag football — Registration is open for youth flag football, including for second to ninth grades and adaptive flag football for children from 8 to 12 years old with intellectual disabilities. LINDON

Senior bus — The Lindon Senior Center has a bus and is able to offer rides to and from the center on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This is available for Lindon resident seniors. Pick-ups are between 10 and 11 a.m. Drop-offs are between 1 and 2 p.m. Reservations must be made at least one day in advance. Contact the Senior Center front desk at (801) 769-8625.

PAYSON

Volunteer at the library — Friends of the Payson Library notes that residents can volunteer for an hour or less each month to help the library meet the needs of children and patrons. Volunteers are asked to offer ideas and support the group’s yearly book sale. PROVO

Events at the Provo City Library — Here are some upcoming events at the Provo City Library: July 8: Senior Book Club: The Lincoln Highway at Provo Rec Center at 1 p.m. July 8: Family Yoga at 6 p.m. Mats provided upon request. Register online.  July 8: Adult All Abilities Yoga at 7 p.m. Mats available to borrow. Register online. July 9: Intro to Birding at 7 p.m. Join Mike Marshall to learn how to start your birding journey. July 9: Introduction to Studio Production at 7 p.m. Library cardholders can take this basic class covering safety and procedural protocol for using the Basement Creative Lab. July 10: Tote-Ally Unique for teens at 6:30 p.m. Customize your own tote bag. Wear clothes you don’t mind getting paint on. July 11: Library Adventures: Let’s Go Birding! at Utah Lake Shore Trail at 4 p.m. Get tips for spotting incredible birds from experienced birder Mike Marshall. Register online. July 14: Book Trivia Night for ages 16 and up at 7 p.m. Bring a group of 5 to 8 friends or join a group. Register online. July 15: Best Books Lite: Our Favorite Literary Characters from 7 to 8 p.m. Librarians will share books containing their all-time favorite literary characters.

SARATOGA SPRINGS

Community Orchestra — The Saratoga Springs Community Orchestra holds practices on the first and third Thursdays of each month from 7 to 9 p.m. at the city offices, 1307 N. Commerce Drive. The orchestra will be preparing for Saratoga Splash Days and the December holiday concerts.

UTAH COUNTY

Mental health support groups and classes — NAMI Utah County offers free in-person and online support groups and classes for adults and teens living with mental health conditions and for family members of loved ones living with mental health conditions. Volunteers to help Kids On The Move — Each Friday and Saturday, Kids On The Move offers Respite Care, providing a free break to parents with special needs children. Families drop their children off at locations in Orem, Lehi and Springville where they are paired one-on-one with a volunteer to play for the evening. A nurse or behavior technician is also present to help oversee. The group is seeking 10 volunteers 16 years and older from 5:45 to 9:30 p.m. every Friday and Saturday to help make this happen. For more information or to sign up, visit https://kotm.org/volunteer-portal. Coronavirus measures are being taken, including requiring masks, taking temperatures and frequent hand sanitizing.

Foster grandparents sought — Utah County is seeking senior volunteers to serve as foster grandparents. Volunteers must be limited-income individuals at least 55 years old and able to serve 15 or more hours per week. Volunteers serve as mentors, tutors and caregivers for children and youth at schools, hospitals, youth centers and similar organizations. Volunteers receive a non-taxable stipend, paid personal leave, transportation reimbursement, ongoing training and more. Utah County Home Visit Programs in need of donations — Utah County Health Department home visit programs are running low on donated resources such as baby blankets and diapers. The health department is asking Utah County community members to consider donating items or organizing service projects to assist in providing donations. The items most needed are new receiving blankets or small quilts and diapers. Other welcomed items include: infant “onesies,” knit hats and infant-appropriate board books. Items should be in new condition. Donations may be dropped off Monday to Friday (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) at the following health department locations: Provo — 151 S. University Ave., Suite 1610, American Fork — 599 S. 500 East. Questions about the home visit programs should be directed to Bonnie Hardy at (801) 851-7026.
