AMERICAN FORK

American Fork’s Got Talent — Come see local talent shine during Steel Days from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 18, at Mary and Art Dye Park.

“Footloose – Youth Edition” — Timpanogos Youth Theater presents a family-friendly musical in an hour packed with classic hits, dancing and inspiring talent from young actors. Events at the American Fork Library — Here are some upcoming events at the American Fork Library: July 14: Teen Writer’s Club at 3 p.m. Teen writers of all genres welcome. July 15: Rock Rangers for tweens at 1 p.m. Discover the fascinating world of geology and rocks. Register online. July 17: Adult D&D Beginner’s Workshop at 5 p.m. Adults 19 and older are invited to learn the basics of playing Dungeons & Dragons. July 17: Adult Writer’s Club-Beginners at 7 p.m. Learn the basics of creative writing and storytelling. July 21: Teen Writer’s Club at 3 p.m. Teen writers of all genres welcome. July 22: Crafternoon for tweens at 1 p.m. Explore new crafts, experiment with cool materials and create awesome projects. Registration required. July 24: Library closed for Pioneer Day. July 26: Maker’s Table: Art Workshop for people 16 and older at noon. Artist April Terry heads this four-hour workshop offering guided inspiration, access to a variety of materials and time to explore. Tickets require a $5 donation. Register online. July 28: Teen Writer’s Club at 3 p.m. Teen writers of all genres welcome. July 28: Family Night at the Library: AF Fire Department at 6 p.m. Learn how firefighters use math and science in their jobs. July 31: Teen D&D Beginner’s Workshop at 5 p.m. Learn all there is to know about playing Dungeons & Dragons. Aug. 1: Summer Reading Celebration: Color Our World at 6:30 p.m. Those who completed their summer reading tracking sheet and picked up a ticket can join the celebration with a guest for exclusive after-hours access to the library, colorful activities and a gift.

CEDAR HILLS

Fall youth soccer — Registration is open for youth soccer leagues, including tot soccer and K-2. Parents are encouraged to coach, if possible. Non-residents are welcome at no additional cost. For more information or to register, visit https://cedarhillsrec.activityreg.com/selectactivity_t2.wcs.

Fall youth flag football — Registration is open for youth flag football, including for second to ninth grades and adaptive flag football for children from 8 to 12 years old with intellectual disabilities. LINDON

Senior bus — The Lindon Senior Center has a bus and is able to offer rides to and from the center on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This is available for Lindon resident seniors. Pick-ups are between 10 and 11 a.m. Drop-offs are between 1 and 2 p.m. Reservations must be made at least one day in advance. Contact the Senior Center front desk at (801) 769-8625.

PAYSON

Volunteer at the library — Friends of the Payson Library notes that residents can volunteer for an hour or less each month to help the library meet the needs of children and patrons. Volunteers are asked to offer ideas and support the group’s yearly book sale. Events at the Provo City Library — Here are some upcoming events at the Provo City Library: July 12: Find the library at the Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Pioneer Park. July 14: Book Trivia Night for ages 16 and up at 7 p.m. Bring a group of 5 to 8 friends or join a group. Register online. July 15: Best Books Lite: Our Favorite Literary Characters from 7 to 8 p.m. Librarians will share books containing their all-time favorite literary characters. July 16: Chalk the Courtyard for ages 12-18 at 2 p.m. Eat ice pops and be creative with your friends. July 18: Come Play Board Games for adults from 5 to 8:30 p.m. The library will provide the games, you provide the players. July 19: Find the library at the Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Pioneer Park. July 19: The Writer’s Guild for ages 12 to 18 at 3 p.m. Teen writers are encouraged to bring their pieces to get feedback and to provide feedback to others. July 21: Utah Valley Operafest: The Elixir of Love at 7 p.m. Join the library for a delightful evening of romance and mischief in Donizetti’s comic opera. Register online. SARATOGA SPRINGS

Community Orchestra — The Saratoga Springs Community Orchestra holds practices on the first and third Thursdays of each month from 7 to 9 p.m. at the city offices, 1307 N. Commerce Drive. The orchestra will be preparing for Saratoga Splash Days and the December holiday concerts.

UTAH COUNTY

Mental health support groups and classes — NAMI Utah County offers free in-person and online support groups and classes for adults and teens living with mental health conditions and for family members of loved ones living with mental health conditions. Volunteers to help Kids On The Move — Each Friday and Saturday, Kids On The Move offers Respite Care, providing a free break to parents with special needs children. Families drop their children off at locations in Orem, Lehi and Springville where they are paired one-on-one with a volunteer to play for the evening. A nurse or behavior technician is also present to help oversee. The group is seeking 10 volunteers 16 years and older from 5:45 to 9:30 p.m. every Friday and Saturday to help make this happen. Foster grandparents sought — Utah County is seeking senior volunteers to serve as foster grandparents. Volunteers must be limited-income individuals at least 55 years old and able to serve 15 or more hours per week. Volunteers serve as mentors, tutors and caregivers for children and youth at schools, hospitals, youth centers and similar organizations. Volunteers receive a non-taxable stipend, paid personal leave, transportation reimbursement, ongoing training and more. Utah County Home Visit Programs in need of donations — Utah County Health Department home visit programs are running low on donated resources such as baby blankets and diapers. The health department is asking Utah County community members to consider donating items or organizing service projects to assist in providing donations. The items most needed are new receiving blankets or small quilts and diapers. Other welcomed items include: infant “onesies,” knit hats and infant-appropriate board books. Items should be in new condition. Donations may be dropped off Monday to Friday (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) at the following health department locations: Provo — 151 S. University Ave., Suite 1610, American Fork — 599 S. 500 East. Questions about the home visit programs should be directed to Bonnie Hardy at (801) 851-7026.
