Nutrition plays a critical role in a person’s journey out of both homelessness and poverty.
For individuals experiencing poverty and/or homelessness, consistent access to nourishing food is a daily challenge. Chronic food insecurity leads to poor health, impairs mental clarity and drains the energy needed to pursue work, education or permanent housing. Hunger isn’t just a matter of discomfort — it’s a barrier to progress.
That’s why our kitchen prepares thoughtfully designed, nutritionally balanced meals. With every meal we serve, we aim to restore strength, dignity and hope. By providing fruits, vegetables, proteins and grains, we help our clients regain or maintain physical and mental stability.
Nutrition is also a gateway to trust. When individuals know they can rely on us for daily meals, it opens the door to our other wraparound services: employment assistance; mental, medical and dental health care; housing support; and access to showers and laundry facilities. These efforts work hand in hand. Addressing poverty requires a holistic response — and, for many, food is the first step.
Equally important is the sense of community created around a shared meal. For someone experiencing homelessness, that meal may be their only moment of normalcy and connection in an otherwise chaotic day. We believe healing from poverty and homelessness begins with dignity, respect and the feeling of being seen, supported and cared for.
Each year, we serve approximately 100,000 meals to individuals in need. We recently celebrated our 3 millionth meal served since inception. We couldn’t do it without the generous support of our community. If you’re looking to make an impact, we invite you to support our mission. Together, we are difference-makers.
