Bill Summers, Spanish Fork Maceys General Manager, delivered the check to Lana Hiskey, Nebo Education Foundation Executive Director.

The Nebo Education Foundation and Nebo Pantry have almost $7,500 more this holiday season thanks to donations from two Maceys locations in Utah County.

Maceys in Spanish Fork donated $5,932 and Maceys in Provo donated $1,515.72. This money was delivered in a check by Bill Summers, the general manager of Macey’s in Spanish Fork, to Lana Hiskey, the executive director of the Nebo Education Foundation.

“We love partnering with the Nebo Education Foundation and Nebo Pantry,” Summers said in a press release. “We love seeing our customers give back. It is an easy way to give without hurting too much. We hope to make it an annual event.”

The money donated to the Nebo Education Foundation will go toward the Nebo Pantry and will be used to provide nutritious meals to students in need, particularly during the evenings and weekends when they do not have access to school meals.

“These funds will truly help feed our hungry students, through no fault of their own,” Hiskey said in a press release. “Our community is so generous, it simply brings tears. Nebo could not offer so many amazing programs without the generous help of so many businesses. Thank you Maceys from all our Nebo children.”

These donations were made as part of the annual Round-Up Campaign, where retailers give customers the opportunity to round up their purchase total to the nearest dollar with the intention that the additional money will go toward a charitable organization.

“We know that food insecurity is a real issue that affects one in seven children in the state of Utah,” Sarah Pettit, an Associated Retail Operations representative, said in a press release. “As local grocers, we are dissatisfied with this and believe that we can be a part of the solution. We hope these funds will serve your students well and will provide a better opportunity for them to learn, grow, and show academic success.”
