A Provo-based company may have found a way to make retail shows a thing of the past.

The Volcanic Retail platform, which officially launched Tuesday, is similar to a dating app. It allows for interested brands and retailers to discover one another, connect and participate in two-way communication.

“Designed to transform the retail buying space, the platform introduces the first two-way communication app in retail,” reads a press release distributed by Volcanic Retail. “Volcanic Messenger that includes live chats, as well as predictive AI-based analytics for curated recommendations and trends, searchable brand profile and product pages, and buyer calendars and contact windows.”

According to Jeremy Brockbank, the founder and CEO of Volcanic Retail, the idea for Volcanic Retail stemmed from his own experiences working for retail companies.

“As I’ve worked in retail I’ve noticed that there’s been major issues with retail brands trying to get ahold of retail buyers, and retail buyers sourcing brands,” he said. “Since COVID happened it’s really kind of exacerbated the entire situation, and volcanic was born through trying to make the retail industry not have to rely on retail trade shows.”

The platform is meant to make it easier for brand marketers to be discovered by retailers, and allow retailers to more effectively find brands and products that meet their specific needs.

“Sourcing new products is a cumbersome process that often precludes buyers from discovering a product that may be a great fit for their customer base — or even the next bestseller,” Tyler Dickman, a member of the Volcanic Retail advisory board, said in a press release. “Volcanic Retail’s predictive analytics and extensive search tools will save everyone in the retail industry time and money while ensuring brands are connected with the right buyers and retailers are able to sell the right products to their customers.”

Currently, the Volcanic Retail platform is focusing on the outdoor world, pharmacy retail and both specialty and nature grocery categories. They expect to add additional categories later this year.

“Volcanic Retail has generated multiple opportunities to get my product in front of the right decision-makers at many key retailers,” Derek Boduch, product development and operations executive of Fugoo Speakers, said in a press release.
