Breeze Airways is looking to hire for positions associated with its service out of Provo Airport.

When Breeze Airways announced it was making the Provo Airport its home base in Utah, it also meant the company would need to hire for the services too.

While pilots are already hired, there are other personnel needed to keep the planes and passengers moving.

To fulfill that need, Breeze Airways will be hosting an open house hiring event for its Provo Airport base from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hyatt Place Salt Lake City/Cottonwood Heights, 3090 E. 6200 South in Salt Lake City. Walk-ins are welcome.

Breeze is looking to hire about 50 people. Slots for flight attendants have been filled; however, aircraft maintenance technicians and material specialists are still needed. With its Utah base in Provo, the airline expects to hire 200 Utah-based team members while continuing to add jobs across a range of positions, including finance, operations, marketing and human resources, at Breeze headquarters in Salt Lake City, according to a company press release.

Breeze, the self-proclaimed “seriously nice” airline, announced it will begin its home-base operations with four planes attached to the Provo Airport.

The first routes to come out of Provo will be:

  • San Francisco, California (daily nonstop, starting Aug. 4).
  • San Bernardino, California (daily one-stop/no change of plane, starting Aug. 4).
  • Las Vegas, Nevada (daily nonstop, starting Oct. 5).
  • New York/Westchester (daily one-stop/no change of plane, starting Oct. 5).
  • Los Angeles, California (daily nonstop, starting Nov. 2).

“I give credit to Mayor (Michelle) Kaufusi and her leadership,” said David Neeleman, founder and CEO of Breeze. “She said if you build it, they will come.”

Neeleman noted that Provo is convenient due to its proximity to Silicon Slopes, Brigham Young University, Utah Valley University, corporate businesses and the general public.

Provo employees will be required to live within 50 miles of the Provo Airport.
