Opendoor, an online real estate company, released its list on Tuesday of the top 20 hottest neighborhoods in the U.S. for the first half of the year, and one rapidly-growing Utah city made the cut.

Lehi was named one of the top 20 hottest Opendoor neighborhoods as one of only three cities in the western U.S. to land a spot on the list alongside San Diego, California, and Maricopa, Arizona. With Lehi’s burgeoning tech industry, and close proximity to the amenities of Salt Lake City, it’s no surprise that the city was named the 13th fastest-growing neighborhood in the nation.

Lehi’s total population is estimated at 79,978 residents, based on the most recent data from the U.S. Census Bureau — a dramatic change from the city’s estimated population of 47,407 in 2010. According to the city’s website, Lehi has experienced an average growth rate of 8.12% annually and is projected to house over 94,000 residents by 2040.

“This rapid expansion has not detracted from the sparse suburban feel, myriad parks, and beautiful mountainous backdrop that residents love.” reads the Opendoor list. “Thirty minutes from the Salt Lake International Airport, Lehi is an ideal balance between a bustling city and the outdoors — a combination coveted by many remote workers and Millennials.”

Lehi was settled by Mormon pioneers in 1850, making it one of the oldest settled communities in Utah. More recently, Lehi has become known for playing host to dozens of tech startups and offices for large tech companies like Adobe, Microsoft, Ancestry.com, Qualtrics, eBay, SanDisk, Micron and more. The Lehi area has been nicknamed Silicon Slopes for its role as a tech hub, a spin on the monicker Silicon Valley given to the Santa Clara Valley in California.

Opendoor created this top 20 list by analyzing data from the Local Multiple Listing Services where Opendoor Brokerages operate. These Opendoor ZIP codes were then ranked by the total homes that went into contract within 90 days of listing in 2022.
