UTA bus invovled in early morning accident in Provo early on Wednesday, March 30, 2022.
An early morning crash between a bus and car has sent the drivers of both vehicles to the hospital.
The accident occurred just after 5 a.m. Wednesday. The bus was on route 830 and was driving westbound at University Parkway and Canyon Road.
“For reasons still to be determined the UTA bus went through a red light at the intersection and made contact with a Ford pickup truck,” said Carl Arky, Utah Transit Authority spokesman. “The impact sent the bus veering off the road, across a nearby Chevron filling station and into a neighboring hotel undergoing renovations. This is where the bus came to rest.”
The driver of the bus had to be extricated from the vehicle. He sustained a broken jaw and other injuries. Arky said he does not have a report on the driver of the pickup.
The three passengers at the back of the bus were not injured.
