OGDEN — Move Utah is celebrating two-wheel transit with family-friendly events for National Bike Month.

In partnership with various entities including the Utah Department of Transportation, Jordan River Commission and Bike Utah, Move Utah is encouraging Utahns to get out and join in a Bike Month event.

Registration to participate in the Golden Spoke Trail network bike ride on Saturday is open now. A 50-mile ride from both the north and south ends of the Wasatch Front will take place simultaneously, converging at the Jordan River Parkway in South Salt Lake where an end-of-ride event will be held at Tracy Aviary’s Jordan River Nature Center.

The north ride starts at the High Adventure Park along the Ogden River Parkway at 8 a.m., with a 25-mile rest stop at Farmington Regional Park.

Riders from the south will be starting from Riverside Park in Provo with a 25-mile rest stop at Lehi Bull River Trailhead.

Food trucks, music, participant giveaways and vendor booths await cyclists at the end-of-ride event between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Consisting of over 170 miles of connected multi-use trails, the Golden Spoke links Ogden and Provo through Weber, Davis, Salt Lake and Utah counties.

Utah celebrated the completion of the Golden Spoke network in June 2018. According to the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, the Golden Spoke network solidified itself as a national model in outdoor recreation by becoming the longest, continuous, multi-use rail-trail network west of the Mississippi.
