Investigation continues into an early Saturday morning fire in Orem that left six businesses either damaged or completely destroyed.

A call came into dispatch at 6:02 a.m. that smoke seen coming out of the Seasons Salon at 934 N. State Street. The building, which holds small shops and eateries, became engulfed in flames on the south and east side of the building, according Shaun Hirst, Orem Fire Department captain.

“This was a two alarm fire,” Hirst said. “We had trucks from Orem, Provo, Pleasant Grove and American Fork helping.”

Four ladder trucks sprayed the top of the building with other EMS and fire trucks on site.

Flames were extinguished in the salon and inside Play It Again Sports. The other three businesses had smoke and water damage. One additional shop, Macs a la Mode, went out of business this week and had three kitchen appliances left in the store. Few flames were seen in the space, as well as smoke and water damage, Hirst added.

It took about three-and-a-half hours to put out the flames, but hot spots remained into the afternoon, when investigations started. It is still unknown was started the blaze.

The entire group of businesses will be without power for days or weeks, Hirst noted.

No one was hurt in the fire, but merchandise was destroyed and the roof completely collapsed over Seasons Salon. Computers, holding client lists, were a total loss, as well as personal grooming utensils belonging to the stylists.

Each person in the salon will have to start from scratch, one of the salon’s employees noted.

Starting at $4.32/week.
