Garbage truck crashes into home in Spanish Fork
A garbage truck took an unexpected detour Tuesday morning, crashing into the side of a Spanish Fork home.
Spanish Fork police, firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to a residence at 300 North 200 East in Spanish Fork at 7:39 a.m. on a report of a crash in which a garbage truck had hit a home.
When police officers arrived and entered the home, they found the male garbage truck driver, about 55 years old, unconscious inside the cab. The officers were able to get the driver out of the cab and with the assistance of emergency personnel, he was then transported to Spanish Fork Hospital.
“It appears the driver of the garbage truck had some sort of medical incident resulting in the accident,” according to a statement from the Spanish Fork Police Department.
Three adults were inside the home when the crash occurred; however, no one inside the home was injured. The home sustained severe structural damage in the incident.
The crash is still under investigation.
