Crash in Spanish Fork Canyon leaves 2 injured

A two-vehicle crash in Spanish Fork Canyon at mile marker 193 injured two on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022.

A two-vehicle crash in Spanish Fork Canyon at mile marker 193 on Thursday left both drivers in serious condition.

According to Sgt. Cameron Roden, Utah Highway Patrol spokesman, a GMC pickup truck was traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 6 when in came to a curve in the road and crossed into the eastbound lane, where a Kia Telluride SUV was travelling. The two vehicles hit, narrowly avoiding a head-on collision.

U.S. 6 between Red Narrows and Sheep Creek was closed for a period of time in both directions Thursday afternoon to make room for medical helicopters to land. Both of the drivers were flown to an area hospital, Roden said.

The driver of the pickup truck was an adult male and was in serious to critical condition. The driver of the Telluride was an adult female and was in serious condition. The male was upgraded to serious at the hospital, according to Roden.

Names have not been released for the two drivers as the investigation is still continuing. All lanes of travel reopened at 4 p.m.
