Man arrested after early morning shooting incident in Orem

File photo of an Orem Police Department vehicle.An early morning dispute at an Orem home brought out police officers and members of the SWAT team after gunfire was reported.
According to a report on the police department’s Facebook page the call came in around 4:10 a.m. When officers arrived they made verbal contact with the man who was in the basement apartment.
The family was taken from the home, at about 400 South and 700 East, and lead to a safe location by police.
The home is located a few blocks from Orem High School and Centennial Elementary School. There was no disruptions with schedules at the schools according to David Stephenson, Alpine School District spokesperson.
Negotiations with the male were started before he stepped out of the home with a gun and exchanged gunfire with the officers on scene, according to police information.
After hours of negotiation, the subject came out of the home and was taken into custody. He was taken to the hospital where he received medical treatment on injuries he sustained. He was expected to be book into Utah County Jail later Thursday.
The Utah County Officers Involved Critical Incident Team was called out to handle the investigation, which is ongoing.
