Orem police continue to investigate a shooting incident at the Midtown 360 apartment complex early Saturday.

At 1:13 a.m. officers were dispatched to a report of multiple gunshots in the complex, according to Lt. Nick Thomas, police spokesman. Officers arrived and secured the scene but did not immediately locate any victims or suspects. However, evidence was seen of a shooting, he said.

Eventually, suspects were identified and two of them, 19-year-old Quinn Lopez and a juvenile, were taken to two separate area hospitals. Both had minor injuries and were treated and released. A third person involved, also a juvenile, was found to have gone into a hospital in the Salt Lake City area, according to Thomas.

After more investigation, Thomas said, police suspected two others, 23-year-old Daniel Triste and 20-year-old Andres Lopez, were possibly still in an apartment at the complex.

“Several attempts to reach them were made and Andres exited the apartment and was taken into custody and given medical treatment,” Thomas said. “After several hours of trying to get the occupants of the home to exit, the Orem/Provo Metro SWAT Team breached the door and made contact with several more people in the home who exited without incident. Daniel Triste eventually exited the apartment and was found to have injuries, he was treated and booked in the Utah County Jail.”

At this time, the investigation is still ongoing into the reason for this shooting and evidence is being gathered, according to Thomas.

“Several subjects were booked in the Utah County Jail and the juveniles were booked in the Slate Canyon Detention Center on multiple charges. All of the injuries sustained in this incident were non-life-threatening,” Thomas said.

Police are asking anyone who has any further information about the shooting, witnessed the shooting or spoke with anyone who does to contact the Investigations Division at 801-229-7070.
