The Teenpreneur Summit, a conference that teaches teenagers entrepreneurial skills, will be held at The Tax Hive, 260 South 1200 West in Orem from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2023.

Debbie Hart, a stay-at-home mother, used to spend most of her time raising and homeschooling her six children. There was simply no time for earning a college degree or having a career. After being served divorced papers and an eviction notice in 2013, though, she went on welfare, lived in rented spare rooms and struggled to pay living expenses and daycare costs.

On her own, she learned skills that would help her make an income. She created a career as a mortgage advisor that would allow her to work from home while caring for her children. Those experiences led her to host a “Teenpreneur” summit to teach entrepreneurial skills to teenagers.

The conference seeks to teach young entrepreneurs how to create and and run their own businesses. It will be held at The Tax Hive in Orem from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Parents are also invited to attend.

The founders of several start-ups will be speaking at the event including Shawn Finnegan, a Utah State University alumni, who was inspired to go into business after seeing his own parents’ successful business endeavors.

“Starting a business is hard work and is filled with stress, but can be very rewarding,” Finnegan said. “The best piece of advice for anyone considering starting a business, would be to do your research.”

Other speakers include Maeli Nelson, Peter Anthony, Lacey Byrd, Teki Koloa, Leta Greene, Christoph Heinrich and Landon Hasson.

The event is sponsored by The Incubator, The Tax Hive, Nectar benefits, Yates Place Homeschool Co-Op and Northern Eagle Market. Lunch and prizes will also be provided by The Incubator.

“We are thrilled to bring together such an esteemed group of self-made entrepreneurs who have excelled in their respective industries. This event will be a catalyst for young minds to ignite their entrepreneurial spirit and learn from those who have walked the path to success,” Hart said.

Starting at $4.32/week.
