Passengers depart an Allegiant Air flight at the Provo Municipal Airport on Thursday, April 16, 2020.

Options for flying east became more plentiful Friday when Allegiant began service from Provo to Midway International Airport in Chicago. The flights, marked as seasonal, will run twice weekly from June 16 through Nov. 13.

“We are delighted to welcome our first passengers from Provo to Chicago on board this highly anticipated route connecting two uniquely vibrant markets with Allegiant’s all-nonstop, ultra-low-cost flights,” said Drew Wells, Allegiant’s senior vice president and chief revenue officer. “Setting base operations in Provo in 2022 has opened the door for new destination opportunities, and we believe this addition to our network will resonate with residents in both cities.”

Allegiant and Breeze Airways announced at the airport’s ribbon cutting in July 2022 that Provo would become their home base in Utah. Between the two airlines, there are more than 60 flights in and out of Provo each week.

Seats and dates are limited and fares are not available on all flights. Flights must be purchased by Sunday for travel by Sept. 3. Price displayed includes taxes, carrier charges and government fees.
