Spanish Fork's police department is pictured Tuesday, June 13, 2017, in Spanish Fork.

Two Spanish Fork residents were found dead in their home on Tuesday. The still-unnamed 58-year-old male and 50-year-old female were discovered after a welfare check was called in to police at their home near 1400 S. 2250 East.

Tryston Robert Erickson, 26, was identified as “the son of the deceased” and a person of interest by the police after the bodies were discovered in the early afternoon. No cause of death was announced.

Just before 6 p.m., Spanish Fork police said Erickson was located by police in Colorado and was taken into custody.

According to Spanish Fork Police Lt. Cory Slaymaker, Colorado authorities have their own investigation into Erickson that could yield potential charges.

According to a press release, a co-worker of one of the victims called a welfare check as they had not seen the victim in several days. After several attempts to make contact and find a family member with a key, police reportedly entered through an unlocked window and located the deceased individuals.

Spanish Fork police received a search warrant for the property in the early evening, around 5 p.m., and the investigation is ongoing.

“It was pretty clear from the information we’ve been able to gather that the person of interest was someone we wanted to talk to,” Slaymaker said.

More information is expected to be made available in the coming days.
