A 2-year-old child died Saturday after reportedly drowning in Provo.

On Saturday, police officers and paramedics responded to the CLAS Ropes Course area at 3606 W. Center St. A family was recreating in the area of the ropes course when their 2-year-old wandered away, officials said.

The child was found a short time later in a small area of standing water. CPR was initiated and medics transported the child to the hospital, where he later died.

“For the family’s privacy, we are not releasing further details at this time,” said Janna Lee Holland, Provo public information officer.

The incident occurred in an inlet near the Provo River. Spring runoff/swift water was determined to not be a factor.

Starting at $4.32/week.
