Holiday lights are turning on throughout Utah County
The first signs that the holidays are quickly approaching are the numerous tree lighting events throughout the county.
The first to light the trees was Orchard Park at University Place, which flipped the switch Monday. The lights will stay on through Jan. 1.
Nearly every city, park and shopping center celebrates with lights, boutiques, Santa’s arrival, gingerbread houses and more.
The following are some of the many Christmas lighting events that are happening in the coming days throughout the county.
Luminaria at Thanksgiving Point
Happening Friday through Dec. 31 at the Ashton Gardens, 3900 N. Garden Drive. Cost is $17-$24. Keep an eye out for the Himalayan Yeti.
Plan on watching the special fireworks show on New Year’s Eve.
The Riverwoods
Holiday lights at the Riverwoods, 4801 N. University Ave., in Provo takes place Friday from 6-8 p.m., featuring live entertainment, ice sculptures and 1 million lights. Admission is free.
Orem Lights On
Lights On will be bigger than ever this year. Due to construction on the City Center campus, the city is moving the entire celebration to City Center Park. It will be held Nov. 27 from 5-7 p.m., with light staying on each evening through Dec. 31.
As part of the evening, the city will be honoring an Orem Gold Star Family.
Spanish Fork Festival of Lights
This popular drive-thru event powers up on Nov. 25. It goes from 6-10 p.m. through Jan. 1. Admission is $10 per car, $25 per commercial van or trailer and $50 per bus.
Christmas at Salem Pond
The lights turn on in Salem on Nov. 26 and stay on through Jan. 1 from 5:30-11 p.m. at Salem Pond, 259 W. Salem Lake Drive. Admission is free.
CLAS Ropes Christmas Cruise on the Provo River
Enjoy a short cruise, starting and finishing at the CLAS Ropes Course, 3606 W. Center St., in Provo and say hello to the special guest dressed in red with white hair and beard. The lights and flat boats come on Dec. 1 and run through Dec. 23. For admission prices, visit https://www.clasropes.com/christmas-cruise.
The Outlets at Traverse Mountain
The Outlets will hold its annual tree lighting event Saturday. They will have a gingerbread festival from noon to 4 p.m. and a concert beginning at 5 p.m. hosted by Melisa Osmond and featuring musical performances by Katie Ainge and Steve Bossco. The lights will be on from Sunday through Christmas Day at the Outlets, 3700 N. Cabelas Blvd. Lehi. Admission is free.
Saratoga Springs Christmas
The lighting will be at 6 p.m. Nov. 27 and will go from 6-11:59 p.m. through Dec. 31 at Neptune Park, 52 W. 400 North.
Highland Christmas lights
Highland will be bright and festive come 6 p.m. Monday when the lights come on at Heritage Park, 10400 Alpine Highway. Free hot chocolate and doughnuts will be provided.
