The peaceful lapping of the Provo River, thousands of twinkling Christmas lights and scenes along the shoreline provide a festive Christmas event presented for the 27th year by CLAS Ropes Course in Provo.

The annual Christmas Cruise has become extremely popular over the years. Two flat boats provide space for those wanting to take the short cruise.

Even Santa can’t resist this special event and will pay a surprise visit to all the kids and kids-at-heart to pass out Christmas candy and bellow a hearty ho-ho-ho, according to the company.

CLAS Ropes has two professional excursion boats that can accommodate up to 40 people per ride. Since the boats are uncovered, blankets and warm clothes are strongly encouraged. The ride is a round-trip experience that takes 20-25 minutes, with departures every 15-30 minutes.

The excursions are open daily from Dec. 1-23 but closed Sundays, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Hours are 5:30-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 5:30-9:45 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The cost is $10 per person on weekdays and $12 on weekends, or $239 for whole boat reservations. Kids 2 and under are $1 or $2, depending on the day.

A wheelchair-accessible boat is available. Strollers are not allowed on the boats.

CLAS Ropes Course is located at 3606 W. Center St. For more information, call 801-373-8897 or visit www.clasropes.com.
