Provo police are investigating a shooting that reportedly occurred around 9 p.m. Monday in the area of 950 West and 1400 North, near Lions Park.

According to a news release, no property is known to have been damaged and there have been no reports of injuries.

Four residents reported shots being fired in what police spokesperson Jana Lee Holland described as a tight-knit neighborhood that has been very active in safety and neighborhood watch programs.

Responding officers found three shell casings in the road during a search of the area. According to Holland, it isn’t believed the shots were directed at a home and no motive is known of at this time.

“Police saturated the area, knocking on neighbors’ doors,” Holland said. They were seeking information or door camera information.

Video surveillance from the area shows the shots were fired into the air from someone inside a full-size pickup truck, the release said. No other descriptive information about the vehicle was given.

According to Holland, there is no immediate risk to the community at this time.
