Woman, 40, killed while climbing in Rock Canyon on Saturday
A 40-year-old woman died as a result of a fall while rock climbing in Rock Canyon on Saturday afternoon.
According to the Provo Police Department, the woman — who has not been publicly identified, though her family members have been notified — was with friends in an area known as “The Balcony.”
Police received a report that the woman had fallen around 3:36 p.m. but she “did not survive the fall,” a statement about the incident said.
The situation is under investigation by Provo police detectives and the state medical examiner and more information will be released at a later time, according to the police statement.
“We share our condolences,” the department said.
