Elder Matthew S. Holland, Sister Paige Holland, Nathan Ricks receive Pillar of the Valley Award

Sister Paige Holland and Elder Matthew S. Holland are honored as recipients of the Pillar of the Valley Award on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, in Provo.Elder Matthew S. Holland, Sister Paige Holland and Nathan Ricks were honored as Pillar of the Valley Award recipients by the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday night at the Utah Valley Convention Center in Provo.
The award was established in 2011 to honor people who’ve made impactful contributions to the business, civic, cultural, social and educational climate in Utah County.
“We’re delighted to have so many dignitaries and members of our community, presidents of all the universities here,” Chamber of Commerce President Curtis Blair said Wednesday night. “We’ve got members along the (Interstate 15) corridor that dot the highway all the way from Ogden down to St. George present tonight. We couldn’t be more delighted to celebrate these individuals this evening for their contributions to Utah County.”
Matthew Holland was celebrated for his accomplishments in his career of education and public service. The Provo native served as the president of Utah Valley University from 2009 to 2019 and became a General Authority Seventy for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 2020, where he currently serves as executive director of the church’s communication department.
Paige Holland was recognized for her role in developing UVU, where she led initiatives that increased access to education.
“Together, Matthew and Paige proved crucial in shaping Utah Valley’s educational and economic future, empowering generations of students and professionals,” a Chamber of Commerce release stated.
Former Nu Skin executive Nathan Ricks, who tragically died in a plane accident in 2023, was commemorated for his accomplishments in the business realm. He steered Nu Skin to global success and impacted several lives.
Ricks’ family was in attendance Wednesday to honor his legacy.
“His influence continues to be felt by Nu Skin sales leaders in his global organization,” stated the release.
Last year’s recipient of the Pillar of the Valley Award was Gail Miller, chairwoman of the Larry H. Miller Co. and former majority owner of the Utah Jazz. Founding president and CEO of Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions Richard Nielsen was recognized in 2023 alongside “The Candy Bomber,” Gail Halvorsen, who was posthumously honored.
