Around 10 p.m., a white Kia Soul collided with the back of a semitruck that was having engine problems and blocking the fifth lane on the interstate going southbound, according to the Utah Department of Public Safety. A medical team confirmed the driver died at the scene. He was the sole occupant of the Kia.

The crash occurred in an area of low lighting on I-15, but the semitruck, towing a dry box trailer, allegedly had its lights and emergency flashers on, a release stated.

The deceased man’s identity was not provided.
