The Buckley Draw fire is pictured Sunday evening in Provo.

A wildfire broke out on the mountainside around 5 p.m. Sunday in Provo south of Slate Canyon.

A U.S. Forest Service spokesperson said at 6 p.m. that the fire was burning 100 to 150 acres in the Buckley Draw.

Utah County Wildland Fire, Provo City and the U.S. Forest Service responded to the scene, and helicopters and airplanes were seen dumping water and flames retardant on the fire.

In an update after 6 p.m. Provo City Government said via Facebook that there are currently no evacuation orders, and that light wind conditions are pushing the fire up the mountain.

Provo City asked people to avoid the area to allow responders to work safely and efficiently. Provo Police told people to stay away from the Slate Canyon area and Mountain View Parkway to allow emergency personnel to respond to the area.
