Editor’s note: All United Way’s Sub for Santa participants’ names have been changed. To help a family like this one, visit https://subforsanta.org or text or call the Sub for Santa hotline at 801-356-6300. As of Friday, 94 families were still in need of support.
Chris and Melanie and are struggling to make ends meet, but they don’t want their financial burdens to impact their children’s wishes.
“With the current climate of the country and prices we can hardly afford rent or to keep the lights on,” Melanie said. “That’s not our children’s fault and they deserve a little something nice under the tree this year.”
United Way is looking for a sub for Santa to step in and give Chris and Melanie’s five children some presents this year.
Their eldest, Alexander, 16, is asking for Bluetooth air buds and Legos. He also could use some stress toys to manage his autism, and a hoodie and sweatpants.
Gordon, 14 needs a coat, gloves and a hoodie, and would like Legos, a coloring book and colored pencils. Harold, 12, also needs a hoodie, along with sweatpants and a coat, and is asking for Legos.
The one daughter, 9-year-old Cynthia, wishes for Barbies and baby dolls, and needs a coat, leggings and a hoodie, while Jason, 7, wants Legos and Spiderman toys and needs a coat, sweatpants and a sweatshirt.
