According to a new study, Provo is the best-run city in America.

The designation came courtesy of personal finance company WalletHub, which compared 148 of the largest United States cities based on their operational efficiency and released its findings Tuesday.

The study compiled each city’s “Quality of Services” score, made up of 36 metrics grouped into six service categories, and measured it against the city’s per-capita budget.

Provo placed fifth in quality of city services and second in total budget per capita to come out on top.

“This recognition from WalletHub is truly an honor, but it’s really a testament to our incredible city team and the residents who make Provo such a special place,” Mayor Michelle Kaufusi said in a statement provided to the Daily Herald.

WalletHub cited Provo’s 5.2% business growth and 91% high school graduation rate as a combination that signals a “strong foundation for the future.”

The study also pointed toward the city’s low property and violent crime rate, a median household income growth of 8.4% and an unemployment rate of 2.8%.

“We’re not just spending money–we’re spending it wisely to deliver real value,” Kaufusi said. “With our 5.2% annual business growth, median household income growing at 8.4% annually, and one of the nation’s lowest crime rates, we’re proving that efficient government creates the foundation for long-term prosperity.”

Second place on the list was Nampa, Idaho, while Manchester, New Hampshire, was third and Boise, Idaho, placed fourth. Salt Lake City was 99th.

Starting at $4.32/week.
