Man killed by police during sexual assault investigation in Eagle Mountain

According a report, Utah County SWAT officers were deployed to a suspect’s residence after a search warrant was obtained to respond to an investigation of alleged rape and kidnapping.
When the SWAT team entered the home, police said they encountered the suspect armed with a handgun. The suspect refused orders to drop the firearm and surrender, then pointed the firearm at the SWAT team members, prompting the SWAT team to respond with lethal force, according to the report.
SWAT team members began life-saving measures and paramedics were called to the scene, but the suspect was pronounced dead on the scene, police said. No police officers were injured during the incident.
The Utah County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation was in response to a suspected aggravated sexual assault that began Sunday night and continued Monday morning in Eagle Mountain.
The victim was reportedly treated for strangulation injuries, internal injures and other external injuries in a Northern Utah hospital and police were notified.
The Utah County Critical Officer Involved Protocol Team is investigating the incident.
