Alisa Petrov, a teen who disappeared and was last seen in Provo, is shown in an undated photo.Police in South Jordan have announced charges against two men they suspect are connected with the disappearance of 15-year-old Alisa Petrov.
The teen was reported missing by her parents April 21, after she reportedly vanished from her school in American Fork and then boarded a FrontRunner train to Provo, where she was last seen, according to police.
Her mother, Olga, told the Daily Herald earlier this month that she believes Alisa may have run off to Las Vegas.
Last week, the South Jordan Police Department released an update saying it received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited children regarding a man in Texas who was believed to possibly have been in communication with the 15-year-old prior to her disappearance.
In a release issued Tuesday, South Jordan police said they have identified two men who they suspect had something to do with Petrov’s departure from her school.
Police announced charges against Matthew Nicholas Menard, 35, of Miami, and William Taylor Glines, 37, of Texas City, Texas. The slew of charges include aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, enticement of a minor and criminal solicitation, the release stated.
Police are alleging that both Menard and Glines communicated with Petrov before she left her school on April 21. South Jordan police say they are working with authorities in Florida and Texas “to further action on the above-related charges.”
However, at this point, Petrov has yet to be located.
Police say they suspect she is attempting to meet up with people she’s met online via social media platforms and various chat applications.
Petrov remains a runaway juvenile, and police urge anyone with information on her whereabouts to contact them immediately at 801-840-4000.
