An altercation at the Travelers Inn in Provo on Wednesday evening resulted in an arrest, Provo Police reported.

According to a press release from the department, police responded around 8:30 p.m. after getting reports that multiple individuals had been assaulted.

They found Esston Aluqdah, 32, of Arizona, who allegedly had attacked four individuals — three men and a woman — and used a pocketknife in the attacks.

Aluqdah was arrested and booked into the Utah County Jail for two counts of Felony 2 Aggravated Assault, and two counts of Felony 3 Aggravated Assault.

All four of the injured parties were transported to Utah Valley Hospital in stable condition, according to the release.

Here is the complete release from the Provo Police Department:

“On December 31st at approximately 8:30 p.m., Provo Police officers responded to the parking lot of the Travelers Inn at 70 East 300 South, Provo, on a report of multiple individuals having been assaulted.

“Officers learned that a 32 year old male from Arizona by the name of Esston Aluqdah, had been involved in a verbal altercation with another male, which escalated when Aluquah brandished a pocketknife and cut the arm of a female who was present. Aluqdah then held the pocketknife to the throat of the male he was arguing with. A second male attempted to intervene and received several stab wounds to his side, and was eventually knocked unconscious by Aluqdah. Aluqdah then assaulted and rendered a third male unconscious.

“All four of the injured parties were transported to Utah Valley Hospital in stable condition. Aluqdah was arrested and interviewed by Officers and Detectives. He was then transported and booked into the Utah County Jail for two counts of Felony 2 Aggravated Assault, and two counts of Felony 3 Aggravated Assault.

“Our Patrol officers and Detectives are still actively investigating this incident. Aluqdah has a last known residence in Arizona, with no fixed residence in Utah.”
